Squirrly SEO, a WordPress extension that, like Yoast SEO or Rank Math and others like it, is designed to help you better optimise SEO for blog articles, pages, products in your shop, etc.

O Squirrly SEO Not much is written in Polish Internet resources. Somehow it seems that a few top plugins reign and that's it. The WordPress ecosystem is so huge that sometimes it's worth looking around, because you can find a lot of surprisingly good solutions.

From time to time it's worth opening yourself up to other extensions, if only to see if by chance they've changed enough to make them an interesting alternative to the tool you currently use. Squirrly SEO seems to be such a revelation.

Squirrly SEO

This is nothing new on the market, my dears. Rank Math is a much younger plugin. Squirrly SEO was born in 2012, so it will soon be turning 10 years old. This means that the plugin is mature and you can expect a lot of goodies from it, but is that the case? We'll see soon enough.

Squirrly SEO boasts on their website that their tools are used by the likes of Microsoft, BBC, CreativeMarket, Elegant Themes, Themeisle, CyberGhost whether TopGear. You have to admit, a nice bunch ๐Ÿ™‚ .

I personally have never used Squirrly until now. Every time I flashed this plugin in the repository I skipped it. Why? Well, I also happen to judge tools by their appearance, although I try to avoid that ๐Ÿ™‚ .

Squirrly SEO in the WordPress repository

If it wasn't for 2021, I would think it was some old thing from years ago. I am completely uncomfortable with this form of graphic design, which does not match today's trends. It's as if I went back in time. Anyway, the interface of the plug-in does not convince me either, but this can be a perfect example to not suggest too much about your own preferences for the interface, but first of all focus on the possibilities of the tool, and these, as it turns out, are very interesting.

Plug-in interface

You install it like any other from the repository WordPress. Unfortunately the free version is severely limited and frankly I would not opt for it as a replacement Rank Math. However, when you reach for the PRO version, things start to get interesting and I wouldn't say no to switching to Squirrly SEO.

Virtually non-involving. The first step is a basic question about the type of site and your level of SEO knowledge.

First step of the plug-in installation

The next step is the automatic operation of the plug-in. You don't have to change anything here, in fact it's not even possible. Just wait ๐Ÿ™‚ .

Step two of the installation of the Squirrly SEO plugin

Another step, also not involving. The plugin imports the SEO settings. Again, all we have to do is wait and we are at the last step.

Final installation step

You can now check what goals the plugin has prepared for you. Probably among them will be the integration with Google Search Console and Google Analytics.

List of tasks that Squirrly SEO suggests performing

Importing data from other plug-ins

If you are switching to Squirrel SEO and have been using another optimization plugin so far, use the importer. With its help you can download data from such popular plugins as YoastSEO, Rank Math, SEO Press, All in One Seopack, SEO Framework and several others.

Import settings from other SEO plugins for WordPress

After the import, you can confidently deactivate the unnecessary plug-in and put yourself in the hands of the squirrel.

Apparently there are no discussions about tastes

As I mentioned the plugin interface is not my type, but let's not discuss that. The home page looks like this. Probably many people will like it, I don't have to ๐Ÿ™‚ So let's focus on what tools you get your hands on.

Main page of the Squirrly plugin

Keyword search

First Woow. The keyword finder works pretty well and can successfully replace other tools you use for keyword research. What's cool is that you have the tool in the WordPress backend, right at your fingertips ๐Ÿ™‚

The first step is to enter a phrase consisting of 2-3 words (if it is longer, it will also work). The plugin will try to find similar phrases in the next steps.

Key phrase search tool for SEO

The second step is to indicate the country. As in our example we have the phrase "pizza lublin", I choose Poland of course.

The next step is to display 10 phrases similar to the one you entered at the beginning. You now need to select the phrases most relevant to what you care about. You can select up to 3 of them.

Here you refine your search by selecting up to three similar phrases.

This is almost the end. In the next step, the system performs a search for phrases and after a while you should see the result:

List of proposed phrases with their data

In addition to the phrases themselves, the table shows the level of difficulty associated with the competition, the average monthly search volume and even social media activity and trends.

You can add your chosen phrases to the briefcase and go straight to creating an article optimised for your chosen phrase!

The briefcase is important because you put those most important phrases for you into it, and Squirrly SEO will search and suggest new ones based on them once a week. Great feature.

SEO assistant

The Assistant in Squirrly SEO, is another tool similar to what you may be familiar with from Yoast SEO, Rank Math and others. You use this when you're working with article editing. However, Squirrly stands out a bit. First of all, you have quick access to basic META data from the front end. Very, very convenient!

This is what quick access to meta tag settings looks like from the front-end

On the editorial side, Gutenberg Assistant looks like this:

This is how the SEO Assistant looks like

Under the content there is a section where you can manage META data, extended fragments and other options. The right column, on the other hand, allows you to optimise your content for selected phrases, which you can add practically any number of. You even have image suggestions, which you can drop into your content with one click ๐Ÿ™‚ Apart from that, there are also tweets and other conversations from social media, which you might want to inspire or quote.

If you scroll down the sidebar a bit, you'll see the suggestions you know from other plugins, i.e. whether the title is OK, the rest of the meta data is well optimised, whether the content contains the phrases you care about, whether the text is expanded enough, etc...

SEO assistant with information about what needs improvement in the content of a given page.

There is nothing left to do but to optimise the content as best as possible with the support of the SEO Assistant.

Rapid optimisation

In case you want to correct fairly quickly, for example, META data for several or more pages Squirrly SEO has a tool to make this task easier. You can view a list of blog articles and with a quick glance check if everything is okay with them. If not, just click and you can make the necessary or desired corrections right away.

Quick change of meta data

This saves you a lot of time and you can optimise the meta data of all your website content very quickly.

Squirrly SEO settings

Of course there are, and there are quite a few of them, and not at all less than with other plugins. Managing templates for the META data of the different content types, managing links, extended snippets, social media, sitemap, etc... This you also know from other plugins.

Focus pages

That is, the pages of your website that are key for you and that you want to focus on. Depending on the plan you decide on, you can add 5 or 10 of them to a single site. Just click on the "Set Focus Page" button and you're done ๐Ÿ™‚ .

Focus pages

What will then happen? You'll see a series of tasks for optimising that particular sub-page, and you'll also be able to see statistics about the rankings. So you can immediately track the effects of your work, another time-saver and comfort.

Focus page analysis

You can drop the phrases you've added to your briefcase into a tool that analyses the position changes in Google search results each day. It is not based solely on what you can read from Google Search Console like Rank Math. Google Search Console collects information such as clicks on your link while an independent cloud analyses your positions day by day.

Position rankings for phrases in Google

Does Squirrly SEO work with Elementor

Yes, and without any problems. Anyway, it can't be otherwise, because the creators' website also uses Elementora, so they certainly made sure that the two tools worked well together ๐Ÿ™‚

How much does Squirrly SEO cost?

Compared to others, it's fair to say that cheap isn't cheap. On the other hand, you get tools that no popular SEO plugin offers, tools that largely don't run on the WordPress side, which means it's less burdened by the way. Most of the work is done on the cloud side of the provider, and that's why the plugin can offer such a wide range of tools that are sure to grow.

The licence also means that the plug-in and its tools can be used on 7 sites.

Is there a LifeTime offer

As I write this text yes and a very attractive one at that! I don't know when you'll come across this article, but if you do in time and haven't yet invested in another SEO PRO plugin I can in good conscience recommend this deal to you. You can find it on AppSumo:

Squirrly on AppSumo

The $49 lowest offer is already quite a lot, while the $98 and $147 versions are already full-featured ๐Ÿ™‚ If you compare the parameters with those on the official price list, you will quickly understand how much you can gain. The investment pays for itself in two months, and then you can optimise SEO on as many of your pages as you want without any charges in the future. Analysis of rankings free of charge, search phrases free of charge, SEO optimisation free of charge...

Consider this offer also in the context of the PRO plug-ins you already have, for which you have to pay year on year, unless you use the lifetime offer (why I recommend lifetime offers) ๐Ÿ™‚ If not, calculate and consider whether an investment in Squirrel will not bring you savings and, by the way, whether it will not help you to better optimise your pages by controlling additionally the rankings and new phrases you can make use of.

Do I recommend

Yes, I recommend it. Especially if you haven't invested in any SEO plugin yet. The lack of Polish language may be a disadvantage for some people. Unfortunately, it is not available and it is not known if it will be. However, if English is not a big obstacle for you, you should be happy with your choice. Maybe I will make a course about this plugin, but it depends on your interest in it.

As for the interface. Well, I am not one of its fans. Probably in some time they will adjust it to the current trends and I will say that I like it very much. Today I won't comment on it like that yet, but I will say that it's a very good plugin for people who want to get serious about SEO optimization of their projects. Consider it ๐Ÿ™‚ .
